Ubisoft’s Far Cry 2 was a great (if slightly flawed) game so I’ve been looking forward to Far Cry 3 for a long time now. The story takes the action away from Africa unto the fictional Rook Island. However, don’t worry, things go wrong for our protagonist, Jason Brody, pretty early on and he ends up having to run for his life, form alliances and fight for survival… which happily involves becoming an expert killer in order to make of the Island alive.
This latest trailer for Far Cry 3 gives you a look at different aspects of the single player game. Some of the characters you will meet (and we’re hoping the ”Friend” system turns out to be just as satisfying as it was in Far Cry 2). The different factions who run the different parts of the Island and who you’ll no doubt run up against a time or two in the game. The different modes of transport (I’ll looking forward to the hand glider the most). And most importantly, the different ways in which you can murder people and the tools you’ll have available to do it i.e. Guns, knives, bows and even setting the odd wild animal on an unsuspecting foe.
Vacationing with friends!
It also looks at the multi-player aspects of the game. Whilst the competitive multi-player holds little interest to me, I’m immensely excited about the co-op game. It’s a self contained story featuring 4 new characters and their adventures 6 months before the start of the single player campaign. Whilst this will be cool to play with friends I quite like that they’ve added a competitive element to it all (an example of this is that in one mission you’ll be asked to snipe and then the game records who got the most kills… which you can then use for bragging rights).
All in all, I can’t wait for this be released… and as it’s released tomorrow, I don’t have to wait too long.
Beyond the limits of civilization lies an island, a lawless place ruled by piracy and human misery, where your only escapes are drugs or the muzzle of a gun. This is where you find yourself, trapped in a place that’s forgotten right from wrong, a place that lives by the principles of violence.
In Far Cry 3, players step into the shoes of Jason Brody, stranded on this mysterious tropical island. You dictate how the story unfolds, from the battles you choose to fight down to the allies or enemies you make along the way. Slash, sneak, detonate and shoot your way across the island in a world that has lost all sense of right and wrong. Beware the beauty and mystery of this unexplored paradise and live to outwit its roster of ruthless, desperate characters. You’ll need more than luck to survive.
