Last week we finally got a story synopsis for J.J. Abrams Star Trek into Darkness and it sounds like a galaxy spanning epic with a just the right amount of heart (so pretty much just pure Star Trek). This week a poster has been released for the film which seems to show Benedict Cumberbatch’s character standing in the wreckage of a building. Plus they’ve only gone and made the wreckage into a Star Fleet logo. How do they come up with ideas like this? Oh right, by looking at other posters… in this case the Dark Knight Rises poster looks just a tad similar…
.
Hmmm…
.
Despite the liberal borrowing of ideas I think this poster is a pretty good teaser poster (well it’s got me intrigued at least) and I really can’t wait to see what adventures Kirk, Spock and the rest of the crew (Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Bruce Greenwood will all be returning for the sequel) get up to in the final frontier (sorry, couldn’t resist).
Blurb:
In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.
With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
What do you think of the new poster for Star Trek into Darkness? Are you enjoying J.j. Abrams reboot or do you think he should have left well enough alone? Let us know in the comments section.
