Dane DeHaan (who you might recognise from Lawless or the fantastic found footage superhero flick Chronicle) will be stepping into the shoes of Harry Osbourne in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This means he’ll be replacing James Franco (though after Franco’s performance as an amnesiatic/gormless Harry in Spider-Man 3 I don’t think anyone is going to fight this).
Marc Webb tweeted this message and photo to confirm the casting:
.
And DeHaan responded with this tweet of his own:
To say I’m excited is an understatement. #HarryOsborn #ASM2
Considering the mystery surrounding Norman Osbourne in The Amazing Spider-Man, it’s a little unclear when we will get to see Harry don the Green Goblin suit because surely Norman will have to wear it first and I’d say that mightn’t happen for a movie or two.

Jamie Foxx On Electro
.
.
It’s now been confirmed that Jamie Foxx will play the main villain, Electro, in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. I think this could work and I’m hoping that Foxx can bring some of his usual charisma to the role as Rhys Ifhan’s bipolar Lizard was a pretty massively disappointing villain in The Amazing Spider-Man. Here’s what Foxx had to say on why he’s looking forward to playing the character:
Electro is a great character. I met with the director, Mark Webb, I met with Andrew Garfield, and we talked. … I think Electro will be an exciting character to play because he’s a … genius electrician-type person, and he gets the short end of the stick from the whole world, and the next thing you know he turns it on.
Not really much info on the character but I did like the electrical pun at the end.
You know, I quite like both these actors so I’m hoping they bring something to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 that was sorely lacking from the first movie.
What do you think? Good casting calls or is there someone you’d have picked for these roles? Let us know in the comments section.
