2013 already looks to be more promising in terms of horror than 2012. There are a multitude of scary movies to look forward to, from exciting directors like Ti West, Rob Zombie, Adam Wingard, and Jonathan Levine. And while there are many horror movies to look forward to in the new year, the following films are what I think are the 6 Most Anticipated Horror Movies Of 2013:

The Lords of Salem

Rob Zombie always adds an edge to whatever he portrays in films. Captain Spaulding in House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects was undoubtedly one of the scariest clowns to ever grace silver screens. Michael Myers was a towering presence of evil and mayhem in Zombie’s version of Halloween. Hence, when given the subject of witches, I’m more than ready to see how Zombie envisions the occult. This mind-bending hell ride will hit theaters on April 26th, 2013.

Evil Dead

Sam Raimi has decided to take the money he’s earned and reshoot his own cult classic, The Evil Dead. Drop the first letter and you’ve got Evil Dead, the 2013 updated version, complete with a new cast, a bigger budget, and much more advanced special effects than the original 1981 landmark. Whether you’re a fan of remakes or not, the gruesome trailer is bound to catch your attention. Look for this gorefest in April of 2013.

Although this is technically a 2011 film, it won’t hit theaters in America until 2013. In the movie, the Davison family attempt to get away from their hectic schedules, and spend a quiet weekend alone with nature. A group of misfits aim to destroy their perfect getaway, but one of the Davison’s has an unforeseen talent that will prove advantageous to the family. Director Adam Wingard (V/H/S, The ABCs of Death) brings this story of torment and twists to theaters in August of 2013.

Thank you for you list! I haven’t heard of some of these, and based on the pictures included in you article, I looked them up. I think I’ll be catching several of them sometime soon!

How could she be a horror lover and still count stuff like warm bodies as horror. Get real. I hate how articles like this always post lighter non-horror flicks. If you need filler, don’t write the article in the first place.

I saw a pre screening of Warm Bodies the other day. Bloody fantastic!

If you read the book “Horns” you might know a bit more about the film. You know what a book is? One without pictures? And Radcliffe is totally miscast in this role!

Yes, I know what a book is. However, because I am a history major, I spend most of my time reading nonfiction books. I will try to read it when I have time.
