Fans of The Evil Dead films will be well acquainted with the story of how a young Sam Raimi and his pal Bruce Campbell made a low-fi, cheap ass horror short called “Within the Woods” in 1978, which they used as a presentation to prove they had the skills to make a real horror movie (one that would incidentally redefine the genre) and to then secure funding for said movie and get that mofugger made.
Which they then did, and now we’re currently waiting on the reboot. But until then, lets be transported to low-fi indie central with Raimi’s original “Within the Woods”, costing $1600 and starring Brucie way back when he was just a bairn:
