I’m loathe to run with rumors, as frankly they tend to be fan wank or simply hype for hits purposes and that type of sensationalism bores the shit out of me. I’m a wait and see man, so there it is. But Bleeding Cool tend to be pretty spot on when it comes to rumors and speculations, so when they drop the bomb shell that the probability of Earth 2′s Alan Scott being DC’s upcoming gay character, then they’re probably right on the money.
And I have two things to say about this if they’re right.
1. Originating in the 40′s Scott’s a secondary or tertiary character at the best of times, so don’t be expecting to see too many waves come out of this as most of his hard-core fans have probably been dead since the late 80′s.
He’s also on a parallel earth full of B-Listers, so I can’t imagine too many feathers are getting ruffled in the fan community really, though it’s nice that DC have given a new gay character to their verse, because so far in the New 52 DC have been lagging (Batwoman, Apollo and The Midnighter? and that’s it).
2. Having taken a cursory glance at the message boards of various sites it’s nice to see that the level of retardation among basement dwelling knuckle draggers with an unnatural love for the Jebus hasn’t changed. I particularly loved a post that imagined Alan Scott making giant cocks with his fiery Green Lantern ring in order to corrupt the precious youth with phallic displays of star busting superheroics (I mean seriously, I hope someone at DC reads these comments and makes them happen. It would be far more interesting and humorous than whatever else they’ve got planned).

Like in everything it shouldn’t matter to anyone who Alan Scott goes home to at night. It’s his super powers and adventures that matter in the comics.
And with a string gay suicides across the world recently, this can be only a good thing.
Well said Catwoman1. We concur
