When it comes to “Star Wars: Episode VII,” fans worry that smoke monsters will misguide the plot, and viewers will find out the main characters have been dead the whole time. Though creative, J.J. Abrams is a bit of a wild card.
The fate of the beloved characters from the original movies was determined in the early to mid-’90s through popular books and especially, the Thrawn Trilogy. EOnline.com reported a source at Lucas Films told them the new movies will be new storylines. Diehard fans are sure the future Disney “Star Wars” films will disappoint them, which happens all the time when great stories are translated to the big screen.
After “Return of the Jedi”
Here’s a synopsis of what happens to the main characters after “Return of the Jedi.” Warning: ****spoilers****
- Han and Leia marry and have twins, Jacen and Jaina. Jacen later becomes Darth Caedus and Jaina, a Jedi. They later have another son named Anakin, who also becomes a Jedi.
- Luke is left to restore the Jedi order and ends up marrying a smuggler-turned-agent for Palpetine-turned Jedi Master. They have a boy named Ben.
- Chewbacca continues helps the Jedi by working for a group of “good” smugglers. He has a family and a son, but is killed in the novel “Vector Prime” when he sacrifices his life for Han’s son Anakin.
- C-3PO goes on to help the Skywalker and Solo families in different ways. R2-D2 lives on as an aid to Luke and later, his grandchildren.
